Frozenbyte is pleased with sales of Trine: Enchanted Edition on Wii U

Trine_Enchanted_Edition_Forest1_Heroes-640x360Finnish developer Frozenbyte’s Trine: Enchanted Edition was recently released on the Wii U eShop, sporting the graphical enhancements of the Trine 2 engine but featuring the story from the original game. Wii U fans have been eager to play the game, but one took to Twitter to ask the developers whether or not they’re pleased with how well the first game is performing on the Wii U. Frozenbyte responded that they’re happy with sales and how the game is performing.

faustOf course, the fan’s motive for asking the developers whether or not they’re pleased with the sales of the Enchanted Edition of the game come from the developer’s recent announcement of Trine 3 for PC. Trine 3 has not been confirmed as coming to Wii U, so it’s likely that sales of Trine: Enchanted Edition and Trine 2 will determine whether or not Frozenbyte will port the game to Wii U when it’s ready. Either way, this looks like a good sign for getting Trine 3 on Wii U.

Japanese sales: FF Type-0 HD keeps PlayStation on top

nintendo-japan-640x333

We’ve become so used to seeing the Nintendo 3DS dominating the Japanese charts that the past few weeks where PlayStation products have been at the top two spots respectively is strange. That trend continues this week with the release of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, which helped the PlayStation 4 claim the top spot this week. PS Vita follows in the second spot, but both the New Nintendo 3DS LL and the Wii U follow despite having no significant releases this week.

In fact, PlayStation products dominate the top ten selling software charts this week with the exception of the final two spots, with number nine being occupied by Mario Party 10 and number ten going to a Nintendo 3DS title. Sony is certainly stepping up their game when it comes to new releases in the Japanese region, but with several high profile releases on the way for the Wii U, perhaps we’ll see it at the top of the charts when Xenoblade Chronicles X drops in Japan.

Japanese sales: Mario Party 10 debuts at #5 in Japan

image

By Ashley King – 3 hours ago

Japanese hardware and software sales for the week are finally available and despite Nintendo releasing Mario Party 10 this week on the Wii U, Yakuza 0 on the PS3 & PS4 managed to win top spot with around 236,000 sales across both platforms and claiming the top two spots on the software chart. Mario Party 10 debuted at number five on the list, selling a respectable 50k copies during its first week.

From there, PlayStation products really fill out the rest of the charts, as Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U have both dropped off the top twenty chart. Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS is still holding on near the bottom of the charts.

In terms of hardware sales this week, it’s much the same story as last week with PlayStation on top, even beating out the New Nintendo 3DS in both iterations. The Wii U is holding steady at 7k, so while Mario Party 10 wasn’t a console seller, it was never expected to be.
